Internet Usage & E-Business
In the last couple of years, the number of Internet users in the United States and the world has grown dramatically. People access the Internet at home, at schools, at work, or at other public places. Many Americans get their news from Web sites; they shop or sell goods over the Internet, and communicate with other people. With a computer and Internet access you can shop 24 hours a day, 7 day a week. You can buy almost anything anywhere. For example, you can buy clothes, food, a car, order flowers, buy tickets for a movie, pay your bills, book a hotel room, research a site for a paper, and download music or videos. The characteristics of online shoppers are changing. Men used to shop more online than women did, but now women shop online more. In my personal experience, I can tell you that I use the Internet a lot. For example, if I want to order a dinner, I am not going to do that by phone, I am going to use the Internet. If I want to go to the movies, I am going to buy my tickets over the Internet, so I don’t have to wait in the line, or if I want to visit a particular city, I am going to do some research over the Internet.
